This option expiration Friday is something worth taking note of. We have all 3 major stock market indices at all time high while the expected worldwide “recovery” has turned into more lockdowns and vaccination nightmares. Is it optimism or it is pure animal instinct to bet everything on the stock market to make a few more bucks? I don’t know the answer but I am sure that if this is optimism it will have to face reality soon.

I love eggs. I eat eggs everyday. However I hate peeling egg shell. Funny that I read this article on how to boil egg that will make the egg shell easy to peel off. I will give it a try and report back next week.

Weather here in Toronto finally settled down to above zero. Trees are covered with green sprouts everywhere. And the birds came back too. I saw a bird the other day that looks very special so I tried to find the name for the bird online. Instead, I learned something fascinating about the birds and their annual migration.

Lately, I am trying to add the skill of lock picking to a long list of things I like to master. As I watch through youtube videos about the subject, I find this video on Master Lock very funny, in a dark humour way. It is a very short video and if you need a pad lock make sure you watch it so that you will never buy a Master Lock ever.

After past few weeks of intense catch up to complete multiple projects, I have completed a major milestone while setting up for the next leg of building my proprietary trading business. There are things that I have to wait for the results before I can proceed so I am stuck in a way giving me some extra time. I hope to either write or record some videos for my premium members.

Have a great weekend all!

US electoral dispute is now over. But we are left with more questions than answers on the future of United States. Given how ugly this 2020 election has become, I can’t imagine what will happen by mid term 2022 …

Luckily I am just a Canadian. Canada being such an unimportant country, its political dramas do not lead to any meaningful impact on the world. This makes me feel much better during our elections.

Here is an older article about human brain’s approach to process sensory information. The article came out back in Oct 2019. This understanding of the human brain has helped computer scientists to breakthrough many of their problems in AI last year. So not everything happening last year was bad.

For some mysterious reason, youtube chose to put this on my front page. It turns out to be a charming video that I watched years ago.

I forgot to mention that I finally stopped my 20+ years habit of writing down notes on notepads some 2-3 weeks ago. I took the leap of faith to replace my written notepads with Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. It takes some adjustments to my routine but I can tell you after 2 weeks of notes taking on the tablet, I will never go back to pen and paper.

I chose this tablet over other options because of the included software for notes taking is better than ipad and ipad pro. I can now easily include clips by taking a picture using the tablet, or taking a screenshot from the browser. But most important of all, I no longer need to find space to store even more notepads.

I picked up a Rubik’s cube over the holiday with the intention to practice my cube solving skill. Then I found this on youtube. I want that cube!

I was asked by many friends about my year 2021 outlook. I will summarize the main points here. Some are technical view based on market data. Some are astrology based projections. And some are just wild imaginations. Consider this a mocking of all the predictions people made for 2021.

  • shortage of food and essentials
  • worldwide cargo transportation cost going much higher
  • interest rate goes up
  • civil unrest everywhere
  • a real pandemic will arrive that reduce global population by 10%
  • major earth quake happening somewhere
  • aliens finally public broadcast their existence among us
  • gold to crash 50% in a year or two
  • bitcoin to crash 80% in a year or two
  • aliens giving us warp drive and unlimited energy technology

Have a great weekend all!

Time flies when you are having fun, or, when you keep working and lost track of time. I literally forgotten it is Friday already until this morning. Thanks to a member who pointed out an issue with daytradingbias.com, my team realized that the server upgrade indeed has broken something important. It took several days to get it fixed … hopefully this is the last glitch from the upgrade.

Many people email me wondering the status of my automation project. It is going great. Many more of my algos are converted and tested on Tradestation. If they all function as expected, I will deploy more of them.

Interesting read of someone’s attempt to create an insurance product protecting the world from the economic devastations resulted from global pandemics more than 10 years ago.

For those of you too young to know much about the financial crisis back in year 2008, and those of you who have only heard the story from mainstream media, here is an article telling us another side of the story. It has a lot of inconvenient truth there.

On the lighter side of things, watch this video on drawing Homer by an algorithm.

Another busy weekend ahead … will see how much I can get done.

Have a great weekend all!

It looks like I still cannot escape to my cottage this weekend. So instead of preparing for the trip, I try to be more productive and wrote two articles on trading technologies. First one comparing different hardware of their trading strategy optimization speed. And the other one about Windows 10, whether it is time to trust it for trading.

I was talking to several fund manager friends this week. They are all sitting ducks at the moment because of the uncertainty going forward. Yet they do not have a way to explain to their clients why the stock market is behaving the way it does. The part that Nasdaq 100 printing new all time high is especially funny because they are questioned by their clients why they failed to take advantage of the crash.

Lucky that I don’t need to handle calls and emails like this.

One thing I know for sure is that this is a unique event that we have experienced like nothing else in human history. After the fact everyone is a genius. However, the indices are not telling the truth of what is happening in the real economy. I know from my contacts that many companies that are not well capitalized enough or that they do not operate defensively before the outbreak lock-down are gone already.

People are in distress. Yet the stock market is back to near all time high can really poke the nerve of many. If we see revolutions in many western countries within next 12 months, it will go down in history that the central banks are at fault in causing the world real chaos.

Mark Manson has an old article on Why You Can’t Trust Yourself, it is a good reminder why we need routines and process to improve our performance in almost anything. The central bankers obviously lack both as they have been making bad decisions all the time.

On the lighter side, check out this old video clip from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I am not a political person. I hate politics and hate to talk about politics even more as people gets too emotional on these things. I think if Stephen Colbert is more neutral with his stance, he can create same routine for every single politicians in US.

Have a great weekend all!
